The Different Types of Diabetes - An Explanation

Many people think that on diabetes as a disease, but there are in fact different types. The distinction between the different types of diabetes is important because this will determine the type of treatment is available. There are two main types of diabetes, but things can get confusing because a type can have different names. Thus for example, type 1 diabetes may also be called (DID) insulin dependent diabetes or juvenile diabetes. Type 2 diabetes can also be called non-insulin (NIDDM) diabetes or adult diabetes. What is diabetes?Diabetes is a disease that affects the body's ability to moderate the amount of sugar in the blood. If our blood sugar level climbs too high then we can begin to have many health problems and may even end up losing our vision and members. If our blood sugar level is high then it could kill us. Hypoglycemia is just as dangerous because it can make us collapse and even fall into a coma. The level of sugar in the blood in the body is regulated by a hormone called insulin. It is produced by the pancreas and the level of insulin released will usually determined in response to our level of sugar in the blood. If these levels rise too high the body will release some more insulin to return to normal. Suffering from diabetes, the body's ability to regulate the level of sugar in the blood with insulin is compromised.Type 1 of different Types of DiabetesWith pancreatic diabetes produces no insulin to manage blood sugar levels in the body. This disease is usually first apparent in the individual when they are young. That is why it can be called juvenile diabetes. With diabetes that individual expects to use injections of insulin for the rest of their lives. This explains why it might also be called (DID) insulin dependent diabetes.Type 2 diabetes tends to occur in adulthood, and so you name adult diabetes. With this condition, the pancreas is still capable of producing insulin, but it is not sufficient to regulate properly sugar in the blood in the body. In most cases people with this condition will be have regular insulin injections. Thus, it is called non-insulin diabetes. Instead, the individual expected to take regular medication and make changes to their diet and lifestyle.Treatment of the purpose of different Types of DiabetesThe of all the treatment of diabetes is to keep blood glucose levels within safe limits. This can be difficult at the beginning and the doctor may need to experiment to find the solution that best suits. There are different types of available insulin to treat people with DID, and the scheme often involves a mixture of fast and short acting insulin. With T2DM, it will be question to enter the right to food and find the most appropriate medication.
