There are many styles of dance that fall under the banner of salon dance. International style
Under the International Style of dance, there are two main categories of dance. They are Standard and Latin. The Standard style is generally marked by Fred and Ginger sort of costume. Hereby, I mean that the dress is very formal with men in coats with tails flowing and jackets, while women wear very elegant dresses in their costumes. Latin dance is much more sensual music, mood and clothing. Men wear tight fitting clothing and women wear very little.
Standard
Not only is the very different style of dance between standard and Latin, but also the styles of dance. Dance show Standard, you can find the following dances: the Quickstep, the slow Foxtrot, Tango, Viennese waltz and Waltz. Tango for of many is the culmination of the Standard event while others have a deep appreciation for the technical qualities of many dance show dance standards.
Latin
For the younger generation, the Latin portion of the competition is the highly anticipated event. The style of dance is very exotic and emotional and incredibly beautiful to look at. The atmosphere of that this style of dance brings not only for the dancers, but the audience also is almost palpable. Latin dance fan favorites include the Cha Cha, Paso Doble, Rumba, Samba, and Jive dance. This form of dance is certainly the idea that the dance has quickly become a sport. The energy required for these dances is phenomenal, as the level of fitness required to wear costumes.
American style
The American standard when it comes to dance is a little different from the International Style. The two categories of American Style are smooth and rhythm. There are other differences as well. In Style International couples must remain in a closed formation. American style dance these requirements are somewhat flexible to allow the creative use of footwork. For Latin or rhythmic dance step patterns are also slightly different in the International Style of dance to show if the sensuality of the music, costumes and movements are very similar.
Smooth
The smooth part of the American Style of dance includes the Foxtrot, Tango, Viennese waltz and the Waltz.
Pace
In American Style dance to the rhythm portion of the dance includes the following: the Bolero, Cha Cha, East Coast Swing, the Mambo and Rumba. The audience still enjoys the intensity of Latin dance and influence Latin, although there are other influences as well. It is always a highly anticipated audience favorite in most competitions.
