Gestational diabetes and Its complaints

Approximately 4% of pregnant women suffer from high blood sugar in the blood during pregnancy is called gestational diabetes. Gestational diabetes as such has no symptoms and could be detected by blood tests to be performed during pregnancy. Usually the onset of gestational diabetes which occurs in the second trimester of pregnancy during the week 24th to 28th. Most women with gestational diabetes have healthy babies but if gestational diabetes is not well treated or untreated, and then remained complications of gestational diabetes may lead to serious health problems in mothers and the child in the future and in some cases, childbirth is risky.

The complications of gestational diabetes that may affect the baby

1. Excessive weight gain in excess of glucose from the mother is the baby's body through the placenta and the baby's pancreas has to produce more insulin and the baby grows. These large babies can be injured during birth or to be delivered through caesarean section.

2. In the early problems-The birth and breathing baby could be born before the due date. These babies usually have problems breathing or respiratory distress syndrome, so they need help breathing until their lungs are mature.

3. Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) - As the babies of mothers with gestational diabetes have babies of insulin production are born with low blood sugar, which could start seizures in infants.

4. Jaundice-Babies of mothers with gestational diabetes may have yellowing of the skin and the white of the eye that is jaundice

5. Type 2 diabetes-These babies are at higher risk of type 2 diabetes later in life.

Mothers with gestational diabetes if not treated well could have various complications of gestational diabetes as-

1. These women are at high risk for diabetes later in life and also during their second pregnancy. So it is very necessary to have a healthy diet and exercise is to avoid such problems in the future.

2. Women with gestational diabetes are at high risk of hypertension in pregnancy and could make life threatening situation for mother and child at a time

It is always best to control any health problem before it takes serious turn. Gestational diabetes should be treated with exercise and a healthy diet.
