Diamond Rings: Not just for Engagements Anymore

Since about the 13th century, diamond rings were the gift of choice when a man seeks a lady's hand in marriage. The first recorded proposal accompanied by a diamond ring was in Vienna in 1477 when Archduke Maximilian of Austria announced his engagement to Mary of Burgundy.

While diamond rings remains popular for many couples today, diamonds are not exclusively used in wedding jewelry. Diamonds - available in a variety of rich colors - are very popular in fashion rings, men rings, cocktail rings and bands. You do not have to be committed to enjoy a beautiful diamond ring.

Cocktail rings

Wearing a diamond ring style cocktail when you want to be seen. Nothing grabs people faster than the eye of a multi-stone ring diamond - especially if the ring has at least a couple of different colors of diamonds. Start with the black and white 1.00ct diamond band ring set in sterling silver zebra polished rhodium plated. It features 30 round cut, 2.1 mm and 70 round cut black diamonds from 2.7 to 2.5 mm with white diamonds, all in pave settings. The result is a stylish zebra pattern created from diamonds. Total weight includes 0.63ct white diamonds and 0.37 ct black diamonds, totaling 1.00 ct.

For a fresh variation on this theme, see Mocha Weave diamond band set in rhodium plated sterling silver. It was almost a basket weave effect, created by 38 round cut, 1.3mm diamond set in mocha branches. The total diamond weight is approximately 0.37ct. The ring itself is almost an inch wide.

Fashion rings

Fashion rings can be just as precious, beautiful and complex as cocktail rings - sometimes even more. But what distinguishes a fashion ring apart from others is its unique design. Sometimes the ring is a sculpted shape, a flower or even a creature. While they are not all whimsical, some rings fashion can be. But there is nothing fanciful about precious metals and colored diamonds used to create them.

Start with a carved ring set with black diamonds, yellow sapphires and red sapphires - all set in 14K yellow gold. Each color in diamonds is a petal that overlaps the other two petals. A petal is black diamonds, yellow sapphires is the second and the third is red sapphires. Black rhodium plating adds contrast to the appearance. The total diamond weight is 0.65ct, sapphire is 2.85ct total weight.

For a ring fancier, try the diamond ring and red green frog made sterling silver rhodium polished chrome - complete with black rhodium accents. While some people would never wear a ring frog, there are others who think it is fun, but valuable, piece of jewelry. The little frog is dotted with 113 round single cut 1.1mm green diamonds of 0.9 in urban paving. His eyes are two round single cut 1.3mm red diamonds in bezel settings. The total diamond weight is approximately 0.65ct.

Bands

A ring stacker is a great way to enjoy a band of diamond. This sterling silver band comes with 0.15ctw diamond color. Wear it alone or in combination with other bands. That's why it's called a ring stacker. Diamonds are available in blue, cognac, white, yellow and mocha. Assign a color to each child and wear a ring as a mother. Or pair with your traditional wedding band to bring some color and sparkle to your hand. Each band is designed in polished rhodium plated sterling silver, holds nine single round cut 1.5mm blue, white, yellow diamonds or mocha. Diamonds are pave settings to help ensure the ring will not cling to clothes.

Men's rings

You will find a wonderful use of colored diamonds in the rings for the modern man, such as the square ring with diamonds against black and white. Set in sterling silver rhodium polished chrome, this is a ring that shows the manly strength and balance. It has a round full cut 3.3mm black diamonds in the bottom left of the place. An angle of 12 round single cut 1mm white diamonds surrounding the large stone and two more rows of round, single cut 1mm black diamonds are at the top of the face of the ring. All diamonds are pin parameters. The total diamond weight is approximately 0.70ct. Ring measures ½ inch long by ¾ inch wide and 3/16-inch.

Another manly ring, created in black and white diamonds and onyx, has a form quite different. The backdrop of the face is an octagon, surrounded by 18 round cut white diamonds 1.35 mm. At the top of the face plate is a six-sided set with 12 round cut black diamonds 1.70 mm. In the center of this face is a round cut, black diamond 3.50mm. Two pieces of onyx accent on the side of the ring.
