This information, output in January 2011, has some astonishing statistics which will surprise many people.Adults and children at the United States 25.8 million in total were Type 2 diabetes. It is a whopping 8.3% of the population. What is surprising about these statistics that only of 18.8 million people were actually diagnosed, while 7 million people are diagnosed and have no idea that they walk with such a deadly disease. In addition, 79 million people are walking in a pre-diabetic state that turns into true diabetes at any time. Even more surprising are the 1.9 million new cases of Type 2 diabetes who were diagnosed in the elderly aged 20 and 2010.With much that is known on the way to prevent Type 2 diabetesmany experts are shocked by the manner in which the rates increase year after year. There are many changes in the way of life that can be made to prevent diabetes never happens. This includes things such as adding more fruits and vegetables in the diet, by removing the fast food and adding exercise to the mixture on a regular basis.A statistical scary of information taken in 2007 showed diabetes was listed as the major underlying cause on death certificates 71,382 and was also included as a contributing factor in a 160,022 additional death certificates. This means that a total of 231,404 deaths identified diabetes as a contributory factor. When people see the real risk factors associated with this deadly disease, experts hope that they will be it take more seriously.Diabetes is also a well known cause of heart disease and stroke. Adults who suffer from diabetes have heart disease mortality rates are 2 to 4 times higher than adults without diabetes. Thus, the risk of stroke is 2 to 4 times higher. In 2004, of heart disease was noted on 68% of diabetes of certificates of death for people aged 65 and over. Stroke was on another 16% of diabetic patients death certificates.Other statistics showed 67% of people with diabetes have high blood pressure. Diabetes is also now the leading cause of new cases of blindness in adults ages 20 to 74 years. Diabetes is also the main cause of kidney failure because it represents 44% or more of new cases.There is no doubt that these diabetes statistics are alarming and shocking in some cases. The good thing is that Type 2 diabetes is completely avoidable if appropriate lifestyle changes are made.
