Type 2 Diabetes - Do Statins Affect Blood Sugar? How Else Can Cholesterol Levels Be Reduced?

Statins are a group of anti-cholesterol drugs primarily used to lower levels of total cholesterol and LDL, a type of "bad" cholesterol.Over the years, Statins have served as the cornerstone of the prevention of cardiovascular disease in people with Type 2 diabetes. In fact, as noted in a study published in October 2009 by the official journal of the American Diabetes Association, Diabetes Care, Statins should be added to therapy of way of life of a person with diabetes, regardless of their base lipid levels. For example, a study published in the October 2006 issue of the American Journal of Cardiology stated the cardiovascular outcome due to the use of statin therapy is significantly more positive in patients with diabetes who took this drug anti-cholesterol than those with diabetes Type 2 which had not been prescribed statins. However, this is interesting for people with Type 2 diabetes: in a study, whose results have been published in the Journal of Investigative Medicine in March 2009, researchers have noted the contribution of Statins can cause elevation of blood glucose levels fasting of deet even people without diabetes! As it was also mentioned in an article published by the journal of the American College of Cardiology, the exact mechanism how Statins cause an increase in blood glucose is still uncertain. And it is still in question if Hyperglycemia or Hyperglycemia noted in people, is the result of a drug that was prescribed their months earlier. Here are drugs (Lipitor, Advicor) statines.atorvastatine simvastatin (Zocor, Lipex, Simcor, Vytorin) lovastatin (Mevacor), Pravastatin (Pravachol), rosuvastatin (Crestor), fluvastatin (Lescol) this growing dilemma due to the contribution of the statins, there is still an issue still to be answered: "How can cholesterol be reduced?".1 Reduction of natural cholesterol by lifestyle change: even without the existence of Statins on the market, one of the best options for the control of cholesterol is always available free of charge: change in the way of life. Travel with: a low-fat saturésfiberdiet high cholestérolfaible is a must to reduce the direct effects and possible complications of high cholesterol levels.Regular physical activity is also necessary to combat this problem. Another change in the way of life that is really needed is the weight management. As mentioned by the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute, if you are overweight, losing those extra pounds can reduce the level of LDL.2. Stop smoking: the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute mentions that smoking may trigger the formation of plaques in blood vessels resulting in atherosclerosis and possible heart attack. Smoking can also reduce the levels of HDL, the good cholesterol, resulting in a cardiovascular diseases.3 table. Other drugs prescribed for the control of cholesterol: Statins are not the only group of drugs that can decrease "bad" cholesterol in your organization. Other drugs that can effectively reduce blood cholesterol levels include the fibrates, niacin and Omega-3 fatty acids.

Type 2 Diabetes - Do Supplements Affect Your Blood Sugar Levels?

The Panel survey conducted in 1996 found medical expenses that people with diabetes are 1.6 times more likely to use complementary antidiabetic drugs their non-diabetic counterparts. In an another survey conducted from 1997 to 1998, it has been shown that thirty-five percent of patients with Type 2 diabetes has used supplements to treat their condition. With a growing number of diabetic supplement users, there are several issues keep harassing the minds of professionals of the health and even diabetic themselves: are able to influence the levels of sugar in the blood supplements? supplements taken jointly with anti-diabetic drugs cause drug interactions? herbal supplements are safe for diabetics conditions1. Niacin, also known as Nicotinic Acid or nicotinate, is a common form of vitamin B3. The body uses vitamin in the production of various hormones and hormones related to stress in the adrenal glands, gland located on the top of each kidney. In addition, it has also been shown to have significant uses in many medical conditions such as high cholesterol levels, atherosclerosis... hardening of the blood vessel walls and osteoarthritis. However, there is a problem with the use of niacin by diabetics. The University of Maryland Medical Center says that niacin has the capacity to raise the level of sugar in the blood which resulted in the development of hyperglycemia. Hyperglycemia can cause an array of consequences: conditions such as the increased frequency and urination excessive (polyuria) and excessive thirst and craving to drink large amounts of fluids to replace the water lost through excessive urination. However, in the worst cases, Hyperglycemia can cause dizziness, nausea and vomiting, coma and even death.2. Aloe is an another natural supplement that may be taken for a certain number of conditions. Aloe vera can help relieve the indigestion, constipation, bladder infections, itchy, psoriasis and ulcerative colitis. However, as mentioned by more from Medline, supplementation aloe can also cause hypoglycemia or low blood sugar. Any person taking antidiabetic must be extra careful in the use of Aloe as it may cause some hypoglycemic additive effect to their medication resulting in an overwhelming development of hypoglycemia. Symptoms of hypoglycemia include: tremblementsanxiété, cold clammy etskinIn the worst case, it may result in coma.3. Ginseng is a herb usually used by people with Type 2 diabetes and diabetics to help eliminate stress and to stimulate the immune system. More from Medline, this herbal supplement may be useful for lowering blood sugar after meals in Type 2 diabetes. However, there is a particular precaution with the use of ginseng: adding this supplement to the usual herbal antidiabetic can reduce blood sugar too, resulting in hypoglycemia.Vitamins and minerals is essential for good health, but excess, some of them can do much damage.

Why Does Corneal Thickness Affect Lasik Eye Surgery?

One of the key in the preoperative evaluation of surgery Lasik is corneal thickness of the patient. The cornea is the clear dome which forms the front of the eye. It functions as a lens and represents approximately 60% of the power of focusing your eyes. LASIK surgery works with a laser to reshape the cornea and alter its focusing power.LASIK uses a very particular type of laser called an excimer laser. This product specific wavelength light laser has very unique properties when it contacts human tissue. Essentially, it causes tissue to spray in a Manor House very precise with very little thermal effect. In other words, it can very accurately remove tissue without causing any combustion, therefore there is no collateral damage tissue. By using an optical system, controlled, this laser light can be directly on the surface of the cornea it remodel with incredible precision.LASIK requires some amount of corneal tissue to be removed to change its form. Over the years, surgeons have developed the generally accepted principles as margins of reliable security for what tissue can be removed and how many should stay. It is believed generally that if too tissue is removed from the cornea's structural integrity can be compromised and it will be weakened. Any weakness of the cornea can lead to distortions of its form which are unpredictable and irregular. The weakness may also be progressive causing something called ectasia where part of the cornea grows outward.Cornea thickness of each is different, and it is an essential part of the of Lasik preoperative assessment of the measure. The most common way to measure the thickness of the cornea is ultrasonic, but there are also a number of new optical instruments which can take similar measures. An average thickness of the cornea is usually in the neighbourhood of 550 microns, but there is a relatively large variation with some being more thick and some diluent. In some cases, an exceptionally thin cornea may be a sign of weakness or something called the Keratoconus. These people should be eliminated before having Lasik because their corneas are already inherently weak. This diagnosis is made by measurements of the thickness of the cornea, shape of the cornea or topography and other clinical signs which can often be seen by an ophthalmologist formed under the microscope. Anybody determined by their eye surgeon to have the Keratoconus should be excluded from having Lasik Surgery based on this information only. When executing Lasik, the surgeon can remove tissue to a certain depth. Most surgeons will want to leave a base of at least 250-300 microns in intact corneal security. LASIK requires a certain amount of fabric used to create a surface flap is lifted before road excimer laser removes tissue and redefines the cornea optically. The thickness of the Lasik flap is essential because the thinner the Rabat, the treatment of Lasik more can be done before reaching the intact core minimum of 250 to 300 microns. Once again, the feeling is that if the depth of processing considerably exceeds this point, that the structural integrity of the cornea can be compromised. With the older technology, a bladed instrument called a microkeratome is used to create the Lasik flap. A typical thickness flap using this instrumentation would be approximately 160 microns. So for a patient with a 550 micron cornea, after the creation of the Rabat, the remaining fabric would 550-160 or 390 microns in thickness. If the surgeon wants to leave an intact basis of 300 microns, leaving 90 microns of tissue to be removed and reshaped for the optical effect. Generally, for each diopter of myopia, it requires the removal of about 12 - 15 microns of tissue. This treatment is only possible for up to-6 to-8 Diopters in this patient.New technology of Lasik is completely free of blade and uses another laser (a femtosecond laser) to create the flap instead of a microkeratome blade. These femtosecond lasers can make Lasik flaps which are much thinner, approximately 100 microns in thickness over 160 microns with precision. This additional 60 microns leaves more than fabrics for optical treatment for 5 or 6 diopters of further possible processing in an average person. That is why when you use the femtosecond laser systems, higher Lasik treatments can often be performed even in patients with a little more thin corneas. It is the measure of the thickness of the cornea important as i

Soy foods can affect your health.

Soy is generally considered "healthy" foods They have even touted as a "superfoods" and the "ultimate source of protein" without risk to the health of the saturated fat contained in meat. This fact, many people were consuming products of soybean without a thought of second on how it can affect their health. Some believe even choose soybean in meat is beneficial for their health. Unfortunately, it is not true. In truth, these people may be originally themselves more difficult. Soy as a healthy food is simply the result of a marketing strategy "success" by the soy of multi-billion dollar industry.

Let me start with the history of soy. History teaches us that soy is not something, that we should be eating. It is not yet a food. Although soybean was discovered in China in the Chou dynasty, the Chinese did not eat soybeans until they have developed the process to ferment the. The reason is not fermented soybean contains high amounts of natural toxins.

The problem is that of soy non-fermented products such as tofu and soy milk are considered healthy and form a large part of our modern diet. There is also "healthy" baby made from soy non-fermented food. In other words, which was not even considered as food in distant past is today regarded as good enough to eat. Here are a few reasons why many non-fermented soy is bad for your health.
Soybeans contain depressants of growth such as hemagglutinin and trypsin. As such, growth of children should never be fed unfermented soy products. There is no concern for soy products fermented, however, since the depressants are disabled during the fermentation process.Soy is high in phytic acid, which blocks the uptake of essential minerals such as zinc and magnesium. That is why vegetarians who often depend on soy to their source of proteins have zinc and magnesium deficiencies. This can cause muscle weakness, fatigue or slow cell growth. However, a period long fermentation can reduce phytic acid content in soybeans.Soybeans contain goitrogens, a chemical that removes the functions of the thyroid. When thyroid function is reduced, weight gain easily, just weight loss by making it more difficult. Overweight or obese can lead to hypertension, heart attacks and other related problems. Most of soybean is now genetically modified. Not only that, rearing process also uses pesticides to improve their production of production since the consumption of soy is very high and a large output is therefore necessary to meet the demand. This means that soy is highly contaminated with pesticides, which can cause cancer, other diseases, in the human body. Worse still, no fermentation reduces the level of contamination by pesticides.Soybeans contain Phytoestrogens, raise the level of estrogen in men and women. High estrogens means generally more fat storage in your buttocks and thighs. Among women, high estrogen levels may disrupt the cycle of menopause. Among men, the effect is reduced sperm and testosterone production, and the development of the fat in your chest, resulting in more big tits (commonly called "man nichons"). Basically, estrogen high by men reduced masculinity.

But we are not we all soy products? Soy products non-fermented milk soy and tofu must be avoided at all costs if you really want to lose fat and live healthy. Soy products fermented, the tempeh and miso, are fine if consumed moderately. However, for children, it is preferable to avoid all soy products.
